The effort is appreciated nonetheless. I am also interested in the answer though, but I can’t imagine Zen+ going without ECC considering Zen’s origins and usage in Epyc as well.

That’s the big one, I agree.

If it’s like previous AMD CPUs then ECC compatibility will be there on the CPUs, it’s up to the motherboard manufacturers to implement the feature however.

IIRC it’s like that on Ryzen, Bulldozer, Phenom II, and I think before were like that. Unregistered/Unbuffered only either way.

I don’t believe AMD have built a CPU that DOES NOT support ECC memory in over a decade. Even my lowly Turion micro-server does.

But just saying, it would be very much out of character for AMD to do so. Especially given its a minor bump of the Ryzen platform, which does.

I think more interesting will be which motherboards support it.

I am guessing there is a copy & paste oversight and it should read:

For Ryzen Series CPUs (Raven Ridge / Pinnacle Ridge), ECC is only supported with PRO CPUs.

So that would mean proper support only with Ryzen Pro. (at least official)
APUs have no support for ECC of course.

I doubt that, as we know ECC is supported for Summit Ridge (1000-series) already and that chart lists them correctly. Most reasonable assumption is that this motherboard supports ECC on both Pinnacle and Summit Ridge but not Raven Ridge.

Furthermore we know that Raven Ridge does unofficially work with ECC, but it needs motherboard support.

Well certain motherboards will support ECC.
But of course Ryzen and Ryzen + are platforms geared towards mainstream desktop use and gamers,
on which ECC doesnt really play much of a role.
Its nice that it sorta kinda works but yeah.
Motherboard manufacturers probablly wont pay too much attention to it.

People that really have a need for ECC memory support,
generally dont look at mainstream type hardware,
but rather HEDT and or workstation enterprise hardware stuff.
