Built a new computer over the weekend 14 900 K,
( returned the pro art, and got a maximus hero Z790) pro art creator, Wi-Fi, Z790 motherboard 4070 TI pro art GPU all parts are brand new can’t even get through the windows installation process. It keeps freezing runs perfectly in bios, if I enter my product key windows install kept hanging on the downloaded files once it got to 100%. , if I selected I do not have a product key it would let me install windows and everything and I would get to the account set up where ask me the region and everything then it would freeze, it’s just odd that it seems to freeze at certain points so it’s definitely a specific issue I feel but I can’t narrow it down. I’m pretty sure I’m gonna have to RMA the board but I would definitely love to figure this out.
I am also getting Q code 26 which I cannot find any information on really.
that sucks! I had a similar issue recently, was installing windows, sometimes id get farther than others, once I even made it to the desktop, but it would always blue screen or freeze eventually.
I replaced the ssd, removed gpu, the whole troubleshooting gambit until finally i swapped in an older RAM stick and issues immediately went away. It may just be a stick not seated right, or maybe a bad dimm, but might be worth a try.
For troubleshooting suggestions, do you have any extra parts laying around we might swap in to isolate if its potentially a hardware problem?
disable the auto install of ‘armory crate’/drivers (it’s a bios option)
try to install without any internet connected (wifi/ethernet switched off completely and disconnected)
Is your windows install file the most recent one? Is it windows 11 or 10? Since you have very recent hardware, something might not by supported in an older installer?
No, I just upgraded from DDR four to DDR five I bought the maximus hero Z790 I thought it might be ram related I have zero experience with DDR five. Thank you for the tips though.
