YouTube does a lot of strange stuff lately, one of which is changing the colors of the like / dislike bar to blue and grey. I don't even know why they thought that would be a good idea, but it infuriates me. Call me crazy, but I can't stop looking at this offensive little fucker. It makes watching Tek Syndicate Vids pretty hard :D
But unlike the Google+ commenting system, this problem is pretty easy to fix. Get an extension for your browser, that overwrites CSS. I am using "Stylish" for Chrome. Find the CSS-expression on YouTube, which defines the color of the like / dislike bar.
My guess is this did it because people see the massive red bar and instinctively close the tab/go back. Probably resulting in less ad revenue somehow.
Blue is calming, and the grey makes it harder to see how disliked a video is, without acting checking it consciously.
You could argue they did it because we shouldn't be influenced by the majority, and should make our own decisions on whether on not we like a video or give it a chance, on our own.
....that said though, pre sure its an ad revenue thing, yep.
I didn't even know it changed until I read this because on my browser its still the same. Ok I did some checking, the reason why it didn't change for me is because of a chrome extension I had. Install this extension if you want the default colors:
Thank you I thought i was going insane, or colourblind. Its good to know im not colourblind, its probably due to the comment system, trying to get away with as much as they can
