"You do WHAT with Mechanical keyboards?"

So I go to Ft.Worth every few months for assistance with my Epilepsy medication. Located adjacent to that clinic, is a resale shop that has a bit of everything; including a small corner dedicated to getting low cost computers to the underprivileged so they can look for jobs online. There are some for sale, others reserved for the program. I went to the older, blind man (low vision?) listening to the TV and working on the systems.
I ask the man "do you ever have any donations of mechanical keyboards?" He asked me
"why do you want a mechanical keyboard?" I gave him my reasons for wanting an IBM model M.
"well, no they are incompatible with modern systems; Had a box of fifty yesterday, we just throw them away. "

...I had not actually cried in 25 years. I am now back to 2 days.

Can only hope he thinks any old white IBM is a model M...

Seeing as how he is blind/low vision I doubt that is the case.

Yeah, I assume that he thought you meant ps2 keyboards in general, not specifically model M.

My Mobo still has two PS2 ports. I really want gaming keyboards for PS2 ports... (Does anyone know any good ones?)

Well, we actually got into the conversation about the buckling springs and how he liked them back in the day.
we even spoke about PS/2 connectivity. The guy was not stupid, He was simply uninformed of the niche market that is MKs. I was still like
