So, recently I got a new job that demands me to use a MacBook Pro instead of my own devices due to compliance reasons, so here am I with another thread on what’s the best way to switch between my regular desktop (which does have both USB-C and TB, FWIW), and the aforementioned MBP.
My setup currently has a single 4k60 screen through HDMI, k+m and a webcam, so it should be pretty simple. Initially I thought about a nice USB-C dock that has both HDMI, USB-PD and some USB ports (like this one) on some kind of USB-C only switch/kvm, so it’d look something like so:
However, I could not find a proper USB-C switch that would allow me to easily switch between devices. The LV1 Techs switch seems nice, but it’s sadly out of my budget (I’m trying to spend less than $200 with this).
I’ve been focusing mostly on aliexpress since find such equipment isn’t that easy here in Brazil. One of the things that I found was this device, however I believe that it does not support video through its USB-C (hence the extra HDMI inputs).
I also found this other device, and even though the lack of reviews scares me a bit, it does seem like the most promising option so far.
