Xonar DGX on Ubuntu? Possibru? I hope so

As the title suggests, I'm looking for a way to get sound working on my newly installed Ubuntu. Never tried any linux distro before, I thought I'd start with the most popular (?).

Any help appreciated :p.

System:

2500k @4.9Ghz

Xonar DGX

16GB HyperX Ram @ 1866

2x7850 Crossfire

It should work out of the box. i have a asus xonar stx and it pick up very well. Also use alsamixer in the terminal to check if it is muted which happen to me with xonar stx.

You should describe what doesn't work.

If it has a driver it's automatically used, so I guess you just have to configure pulseaudio to use it as the default output. Install pavucontrol and search for your card in the device tabs.

Also use alsamixer in the terminal to check if it is muted which happen to me with xonar stx.

Why do you recommend terminal commands to a new user? And alsa is probably not the best thing to look at since ubuntu uses pulseaudio to mange the alsa devices.
