XFX 7970 for £200?

XFX 7970 for £200? Is this good value? I stumbled across it on Amazon while i was contemplating a new build and it seemed quite good. Currently the only machine i have is a MacBook Air and i'm missing playing games.

Any knowledge or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Mac.

XFX doesn't have the best cooler. You can grab a 280x for £20 more

Thanks for the quick response.

Is that in terms of heat or noise? I guess both would be bad. What would be a good brand for quiet effective coolers? I hope these cards would be suitable for a Mini ITX build, i mean in terms of size.

Both heat and noise. Sometimes it is luck of the draw. You always want to pick the best cooler you can afford.

Grab the 280x. It is an up-to-date 7970.

That looks like a handy website with all the price comparisons, thanks!

The 280x should slot into a Mini ITX without any problems?

Would depend on the chassis. Some mITX cannot take full length cards, while others can.

It is most likely going to be a BitFenix or a Fractal. I thought since those cases seemed to be geared towards gamers they should have enough space.

Good choices. Just be sure to check any clearance measures. Any good online vendor will specify the length of cards that the chassis can handle. Or heatsink height et cetera.

Fantastic. Thanks for the advice.

First few days on the forum and i'm liking it a lot. Nice wee community.

Yeah, it's not bad. Enjoy the identity and fair advice. Plus a lot of the video content.

Yeah i have been watching the videos for so long i thought i should check out the forums. I used to watch Linus a lot but i find these guys better.

Are you a member of the Bit-Tech forums?

This is the only forum that I have stayed with. Haven't tried many. Sometimes it would be for a game like DayZ or Total War. I only really feel the need to stick with this one. Get to know quite a few people.

Well i used to use the Custom PC forums (and subscribed to the magazine) until they got shut down and merged with Bit-Tech. Havent really got into Bit-Tech so hopefully this is what im looking for. We shall see.
