my friend wants me to help him convert his xbox 360 into a pc.
I was wondering what parts could be reused and what parts would need to bought?
I was also wondering since the xbox uses a powerbrick and does not have a conventional PSU, would it be possible to fit a PSU and an itx mobo into the xbox case?
any contribution of advice or web pages of other people that have dont it would be greatly appreciated.
I know that some ITX motherboards can be low enough power that they use power supplies similar is size to that of a laptop power brick. Also, if its going to be inside of the x360 case you would need the external power supply.
This is going to require some cutting and such for the case and possibly some speciasl parts/converters for the build to work smoothly but it sounds like a really fun project!
I'm actually doing this at the moment (putting a PC in an xbox case). I'm using a TFX power supply (be quiet! BN136) and cutting a hole in the metal case inside the xbox.
If you didn't want to cut holes in stuff, you could use a FlexATX PSU, because it's small enough to fit in the case without modification.
you can't reuse any parts in the xbox, they are proprietary hardware, you'll have to buy all new hardware, and you wont be able to fit anything good in it either, hd4000 with a thin mini itx board or maybe a apu with Pico itx, but you'd need the strongest Pico psu you can get for that
