X99 NVME SSD Problems

Hi All,

I’m having a bit of an odd issue with my X99 system and for a year know I haven’t been able to figure it out so I’m caving and making my first ever please halp post.

System specs: I7 5960X @4.6ghz core and 4.0ghz on cache, 32gb Quad channel 3200mhz at 3200mhz, Asus Rampage V Extreme, 3060 ti, 2tb 970 EVO, 2TB Sabrent Rocket 4 Plus, 500gb samsung x3 and some HHDs, Windows 11

OK so here goes, the Evo is my C drive and is in my one m.2 slot. I also have a 500gb Samsung 960 Evo in a Sabrent m.2 adapter and it works perfectly. Then I added the 2tb rocket SSD and at first it works, however not for long, while playing a game off it or after waking up from sleep the drive is unresponsive. Windows gives no errors or disconnects, all the files still show up, or at least the ones its cached, but opening a file is not possible nor is digging too deep into folders. Ive had it cut out mid match in Battlefield 2042 where the game kept playing, but vehicles and people were no longer loading, still managed to kill players tho. A restart fixes it for a little time.

I’ve tried everything I can think of to narrow it down or workaround it. I’ve tried switching my 2tb drives, which results in my Rocket drive working perfect, but now Windows locks up to an inaccessible drive on the Samsung drive (which runs 24/7 in the m.2 slot). Ive tried different slot locations, reinstalling Windows, tried different adapters, I now have three of them. I know its not the adapters, the 500gb works fine in them. I know its not the Rocket since the Samsung does the exact same thing. Ive gone through bios and played with anything i think can even remotely impact it and I’ve tried more basic things like reinstalling chipset drivers and so on.

I am getting a ton of NTFS errors in Event viewer, but I’m thinking that is because windows can no longer access it, rather than it telling me a connection or drive is bad.

Ive tried Googling but since the issue is so specific google useless hell even tried chatGP… lol what a waste of time. If any one has any idea what is going on here or have maybe experienced something similar I would love to hear it. Since day one I’ve had a feeling it something simple I’m missing but on the other hand I just don’t understand why a 500gb works just fine but the 2tbs give my problems in the pcie slots.

Thanks for any help any one can provide.

3200mhz ram seems a little fast for that CPU are you sure it’s not memory corruption the drives because the imc can’t handle it?
