X99 Gaming Rig Building

Hi everyone, I bought most parts of the x99 gaming rig video but I have some trouble with the Cooler Master Silencio and EVGA X99 classified motherboard.

Did they fit OK? I installed the motherboard and I see almost no room for cabling and even the power cable from the PSU may not fit here.

Now let me put the problem here in more detail:

That is the 24 Pin ATX power connector. It is blocked by the drive enclosure of the computer case!

I assume you meant to attach a picture but I do not see one. As for cable routing, if you are having troubles with the cables it might be important to have the 8 pin CPU cable and 24 bin motherboard cable re routed before placing the motherboard in the case. This is a guess though as I cannot see how you have everything set up.

I updated with another image.

But I get your point, better to place the motherboard after plugging the cable. Isn't it?

Pictures look fine. The EVGA board is E-ATX and the case is made to accommodate ATX boards w/ cabling.

Just tuck cabling under the board, if you want, or take it around through the space where the hdd cages are. I would take the 24 pin around, as it's such a thick cable and you'll be putting a lot of stress on the connector if you tucked it in.

Fuck, you mean that I should have bought the FTW case? D:

It doesn't really matter. Using an ATX case with that board just means it hangs over the cable management holes and you can't do 4-way SLI/Crossfire (which is stupid, anyway). Other than that, it's not a problem.

Nice, then I just should dismout the motherboard and try to route that cable... But yeah, I really got scared with the comment as this is the first time I build something like this without help.

Anyway, I see problem with the cable. I mean, not even my finger can be put in between that

Personally, I'd route the cable behind the HDD cages. Save you having to take the board out.

Just neatly dremel cut some of the cage.

Is this case new? if so I'd send it back and get a different one. I wouldn't mess around with that 24-pin cable or hack up my case to make things fit

I agree, it'd be easier and have less risk involved to just send back the case and get a different one.

Yeah, but I had a grinder and I already destroyed everything around. I won't wait for another case!

How about using additional mounting screws? If you double the spacing would you get the desired clearance? This would, of course, cause issues for the IO panel.
I'd be inclined to build the rig outside of the case and opt for a new case or motherboard.

That looks a bit weird.
But yeah the EVGA motherboards, arent that great in terms of layout designs.

Probably the easiest and quickest fix to this is taking out the motherboard etc, en cut a piece of metal out of the drive cage?

Or just buy a case that is designed to fit a E-ATX board.

No, the problem was the whole drive area as you can see. Once removed all was fine. I had no plan for blu-ray or something like that so all worked nice.
