X79 Sabertooth issue

Hi.
Got a friend who has an X79 sabertooth. Firstly his audio just stopped working...and couldnt figure out why.

Then when he installed a new sound card rather than RMA'ing the board, he boots up and...GPU wont go higher than 640x480 is detected but not installed correctly (yellow exclamation in device manager), GPU-Z detects the card running at PCI-E x16 yet with 0 clock speed (which is odd).

He's tried updating to latest BIOS, resetting to defaults, completely uninstalling drivers/software and re-installing, tried installing windows on another drive and the installer had purple lines etc all with the new soundcard removed too...

but the GPU works in another machine.

Is the board dead? From the looks of it it is...i can't think of anything else to try

yeah im affraid you have to rma the board. it has 5 year warrenty so yeah. seems like there is something wrong with your pci-e slot. you could try a diffrent slot. but i would rma the board. cause the sound also stoped working.
