X570 WARNING: DMAr PRO-SKU feature can prevent motherboards from booting until you change CPUs

Yep, that worked

That sneaky motherboard even noticed after a CMOS reset that the CPU had changed.

So there must be some kind of non-volatile storage that logs what CPU was paired last with the motherboard…

@d3vnul

Thank you very much! For some reason I never thought of just plugging in a different CPU.

I’m very happy this solved the problem for you ! Very nice that you had a different CPU at hand

And to give a definitve answer:

Removing the BIOS battery and wait a minute is enough for a proper CMOS reset.

Note the different message from the UEFI when you do a CMOS reset without changing the CPU:

Excuse the newb question , but am I allowed to post external links ? Or is there a private-chat feature that i haven’t noticed so far ? Wanted to provide some links to some guides on how to deal with bios flashing

Probably a bot-prevention thingy.

Maybe a mod can “unlock” your account since I highly doubt that a new bot technique is to sincerely help out on the first day and then start the counterfeit drug advertising on day 2 :stuck_out_tongue:

Virtue-signaling @wendell to relay that bidding

Decode this hex code and you can find all the details i wanted to share. This allows for even version downgrade if memory serves me right.
Look at this section “How to dump the BIOS Region and to flash a modded AMI UEFI BIOS
by using the Flashrom tool”. Pay attention to all steps. I successfully flashed roms using that method.

This is the last time i flashed a modified bios using the method described.

If it really had USB Flashback (unofficially) it would be nice.

One question remains: How do you trigger “USB Flashback”, then? Normally there’s a physical button somewhere on the motherboard.

Step 1) : Copy renamed BIOS file to root directory of USB flash drive

Step 2): ?

Step 3): Success
