WTF should I do with my old Android phone?

No idea I just know that its around.

Ah okay cool.

So as above it was omni ROM 4.4.4 and devil kernel for the same version. I highly recommend TWRP for the recovery menu.

I for get who but someone made scripts for the devil kernel to undervolt (this is where the battery life gets way better) the CPU/GPU and also over clock them. If you are happy with the performance there was a range of different scripts that are all flashed in recovery so it is easy that will not overclock the CPU/GPU but still undervolt them.

Something to look out for is when you flash the devil kernel or the UV/OC scripts I forget which it will make the screen quite washed out looking, some people really did not like the super vibrant colours of the OLED screens. This is easily fixed by either editing the script before flashing it to stop it washing the screen out or using devil utilities I think it was called. It is a app that let's you control the kernel settings while the phone is running, some interesting options in it.

You probably already have it but root is pretty much essential. Just a nice thing to have access to.

Another mod I did was just adjusting the DPI setting for the screen which makes everything smaller but let's you fit more stuff onscreen. There are a few ways to do thus so look into it your self, I think I just edited the init.d script.

With the DPI changed I was using APEX launcher for my home screens and with root I could mess with its files. By default it only allows some thing like 7 home screens and an 8x8 layout or something maybe even less. Get into its files, root access, and edited it for 9 home screens and a 9x13 layout for apps on each screen.

Exposed framework is a super fun thing to look into. It does nothing itself but it allows you to browse a range of mods made by others that you can just install reboot and have running right then and there. Some of them are great.

Those are the major thing I can think of other than that it was lots of very small tweaks to about everything so it all worked the way I wanted it to. Mostly for efficiency in how I do things, make stuff load faster and exit quicker, look cleaner stuff like that.

Sorry it is a bit off topic but these more or less apply to any phone, just have to find your own way of applying them.

thanks a lot! will definitely help out.

DriveDoid for pretty much all the install media you can think of on one thing.
For photography: get a triggertrap and you have a programable intervalometer.

Flash Ubuntu phone os on it and make a video about your experience and have a pocket PC

How?

Servers Ultimate and use it as a light weight portable NAS. Hotspot feature should still work even though you don't have cell which will allow you to turn it on and serve files. You could pick up a cheap case and hot-glue a 1TB HDD and extra battery to it and plug it in with an OTG cable/power cable. Use servers ultimate to run a SMBA/DLNA/FTP server.

EDIT: Apparently you can't charge while using OTG. Should have known this because that's how I fried my S4. With a little hotwiring you could replace the stock battery with a plug/shim that would provide the same voltage from an external USB power source. Then just plug that into a big 20,000mAh battery or something.

OP did you ever just think of keeping it as a backup and just leaving it as is?

If you want to still use it as an phone, setup a Google voice number. You can use Wi-Fi to make calls and send texts.

download something like KeePass and turn off all of the radios on it.

\Set up full device encryption and screen lock with Pass/Pin.
