I'll keep the story nice and short. My bro's laptop (Asus something-or-other) fried a while back, and I found it's dissembled remains in a box a few days ago. Being bored, I decided to test it out in an existing gateway 'craptop' that a client gave to me because it had issues. The cpu worked, but with one really shitty problem. The 'craptop' had an hm70 chipset on it, which only allowed flawless use with any sandybridge laptop Pentium and Celeron cpus. Anything else ('core i' lineup), the chipset will force the machine to shut off exactly 30 min after startup. Bummer, right?
So I am posting to see if anyone has a sandybridge laptop that will support an Intel Core i7-2670QM processor. I have memory and I have a harddrive, so those are no issue.
at the moment I can only spend about $100, though as time progresses, I should have more.
