Wow , Win 8 looks like crap

Aero is starting to look like a work of genius. I have to say i like aero much better. At least it looks like someone cared. Win 8 is all rectangles and crayons. Like it was made for 2 year olds.

Pro tip use w7 and Laugh at those fools who payed for a broken touch screen os (windows 8 fail edition)

There is nothing wrong with win8.

LoL I just switched to test it. So far looks like crap but does seem to run faster. About to do some benchmarks .

its faster so I use it.

The os is is so much smoother and faster than windows 7. I am also able to get much better and stable overclocks with it, network managment is a breeze, and the task manager is amazing. One recomendation i could give that would change your mind completely is getting start is back. the program just makes windows 8 an incredible os.

All problems solved.

Changes in non-metro part of the interface in W8 are for the better. Windows 7 with its muddy transparencies and rounded edges looks kinda lame after that. Although there's a custom theme that makes it way better.

Installing W8 on a new PC makes sense if you like new file explorer, task manager and generally more minimalistic look because apart from that StartIsBack makes it work exactly like W7. But reinstalling 7 to 8 is not worth the effort.

Shure buy a program to hack windows 8 to make it look like windows 7 then defend win 8 lol

windows 7 boots in 10 seconds on my ssd if your only argument is windows 8 boots fast thats stupid.

Allso have fun installing games for windows live to ALOW you to run some of your games from steam or have to hack windows 8 to make them run or make your drivers work or your old fav programs shure sounds like fun to me

What are you talking about almost everything about windows 8 is faster just because your making the ui look the same as windows 7 doesn't mean windows 7 is better it just means windows 7 has a good ui and windows 8 has a better over all expierence than windows 7 with the same look as windows 7. And my os boots in around 8 seconds with a 5200 rpm hdd so saying that windows 7 on a ssd is faster is not correct to say. Have you even tried windows 8 with start is back? or are you just blindly arguing for windows 7? and games for windows live works just fine i havnt had any incompatability issues with windows 8.

I honestly don't understand passionate arguments against OS/Software that one doesn't use.  If you dont like something, don't use it.  Do not redicule those who do not agree with you.

I use Windows 8 and Ubuntu, my girlfriend uses OSX and XP.

Also, Windows 8 has been running great for me and installing a start menu wasn't a problem because I already used a 3rd party start menu with Windows 7.  Choice is awesome.

EDIT: Thanks Dissentient for the linl to the Windows Theme!

Its ok, he proably thinks Bioshock: Infinite is a good game too based on his avatar.

But Bioshock Infinite is a good game...:(

Yo, I did an upgrade to windblows8, installed start is back and set it up the way i like it, is faster than win 7 and more stable, all my steam games and gog games work balls to the wall.

Cooperman, your second premis is foolish as every setting transferred over except for Alcohol 120, but with 8 I do not seem to need it.... The right corner hover to tab programs works flawlessly, the right corner hover to open up apps page does just wonderfully.

I initally thought windows 8 was going to be a complete cluster hump when we were doing all of the testing during beta, it was clunky, crashy, and even worse than windows millennium was.  The finished product is muuuuuuuuuuuch smoother, has yet to crash on me, and some of the previous programming bottlenecks were eradicated making it more fun to play with.

If you give it a chance it would work right for you, have fun!

Why bother replying to an obvious troll when you can just report him?

I half agree with cooperman since most the programs I use won't work on windows 8 still.

I haven't had a problem with Win8, besides the obvious navigational flaws, which are easily fixed.

Can you list at least some?

1,Metro, aka Modern: An ugly, useless interface.

2,Windows 8 brought nothing innovative to the desktop.

3,Developers hate it.

And no bioshock inf was a hollow shallow game that looked nice that is all,as a shooter it failed in all counts.

i use win8 because tiger was selling it for $30

overall, with classic shell (i think that's what it's called) it's really not that bad, though i still have problems with it, mostly being treated as a user ever so often

I'm really not sure why people are still hating on Windows 8. It runs so much better on my machine than Windows 7 did, and I haven't ran into driver issues or program incompatibilites like I did with Windows Vista. Windows Vista, now that was a cluster f**k of an OS to adopt when it was new. To me, Windows 8 is a streamlined Windows 7 that has added touch capabilities.

Is Windows 8 perfect? Hell no! I think the fact that there isn't even an option to get the old start menu back in vanilla windows 8 is an abomination. And I hate the baloons that now pop up everytime I connect a flash drive or "insert" a disk (I mount the images... nobody's perfect) or click on an unknown file type. Oh, and I have ran accross a game that I can't get to work... Red Alert 2.

Of those, the only dealbreaker for me was the start menu. I paid $5 for start8 (this was before I knew about startisback and before Logan posted his first video about it) and now I enjoy the start menu I know and love.

My closing remarks are this, Windows 8 is not perfect, and I don't think there is any real need to just upgrade from windows 7. But if you're building/purchasing a new machine why wouldn't you pick up the faster operating system? The main gripe hatters seem to have is the start menu/metro UI. Isn't the extra speed worth a $3 plugin?

Lastly, I thought Bioshock Infinite had a fantastic story and I really enjoyed it. I think it's one of the best games I've played this year.
