Was feeling bored and threw together a mock build. Decided to put it here and see what the people think of it.

Nope, grossly mismatched. Here let me explain. I like the cpu, its okay. As far as a MB goes 6300 is better suited to match up with a 970 mb at least, at best a 990x or 990fx chipset. Ram needs be dual channel so 2x4 at 1600 is the basic standard. Gpu is really made for taking a existing build and giving it enough power to basically push new games. Raising your budget by 50 dollars for a gpu will serve you better in the long run. Lastly a good psu is so important, never cheap on it. A XFX 550 is a great starter psu. Seasonic is good, there are others . Ask around here they will tell you. Another thing is that mb is just basically building yourself into a corner.
Could do a lot better for the money.
Just cheap build but leaves some kind of upgrade path. http://pcpartpicker.com/user/Freaksamcker/saved/3Ttz All you really might need to do is get a stronger gpu.
Revising the build a bit at the moment. I agree with you on the dual channel, and I will probably grab a different power supply. Could you go a bit more in depth on why a 970/990x/990fx board would be better? I'm not very familiar with AMD chipsets.
I should also mention I'm trying to keep the form factor as small, and the price as close to $550 as possible. Overclocking is not a priority for this.

If that mid tower is the size of case you want, an atx board is the best choice.
http://pcpartpicker.com/user/Freaksamcker/saved/3THK This little cheap build will run pretty nice for what it is plus allow you to grow it with more storage, stronger gpu, even a larger cpu. Not a overclocking rig.
