I have a old VGA monitor that I use in conjunction with my tv which for the time being works as my primary monitor for gaming. To plug into the Dvi-I port on my 280x (it has Hdmi, Dvi-i, Dvi-d, and display port. He I is in use by my TV)

Yup. It should work as I did once last year. But didn't you get a similar adaptar in your gpu accessories.

No I didn't recieve any adapters with my GPU.
