Would new GPU be bottlenecked?

Hi.
I build my very first PC 3 years ago and using it up to now.
But sometimes i think, the GPU is to weak. Well for my ultra setting needs.
So i thought about upgrading.
Would that make sence, or is some other part in my PC to old so that a new GPU would be bottlenecked?

CPU: Intel i7-3770k (Ivy-Bridge) @4,2GHZ
Mainboard: GA-Z77X-D3H rev.1.1
current GPU: Nvidia Geforce GTX 670 (GV-N670OC-2GD)
RAM: HyperX Beast DDR3 1866MHz (2x8GB)
Drives: 2x Samsung 850 Evo 250GB
WD Re 3TB HDD
PSU: bequiet Pure Power L8 630W (should be enouth, right)

And would i be able to put a current high end card in that system? Like a Gtx 980ti or a R9 FuryX
Also what would you recommend for Linux. I use it 70% of the time. 30% gaming in Win7.
Greetings from Germany and sorry for bad english

not by the CPU, or anything else really

yes

Throw whatever you want in there and game on. You are fine.

Yeah you will be totaly fine with your base system.
Even for for the upcomming new gpu launches from both AMD and Nvidia.
The 3770K will be more then capable for the upcomming years.

Ok thanks.
I still try to keep my money in my pocket as long as possible. ^^
I thought about buying 2 x RX480 for example. And there is my next question.
In the mainboard manual it says:
* The PCIEX8 slot shares bandwidth with the PCIEX16 slot. When the PCIEX8 slot is populated, the PCIEX16 slot will operate at up to x8 mode
So basically i would have 2x PCIx8 slots
Is that a problem with 2 AMDs, if there about the same performance than a gtx1080 single? Would that have any effect? I have no idea.
And would it be possible to put 2x upcoming AMD Vega cards in it?
I wonder how far i can go with 2 cards.

it wouldn't have any noticeable effect.

I dont see why not, besides them not being out yet, your only potential roadblock is the PSU is you put two high power draw cards.

Personally, I would wait to buy two RX480's. A lot is going to depend on how AMD drivers develop and if crossfire plays nice with future PC games. There's a lot up in air right now. I am definitely not an NVidia fan boy, but right now at this time I would feel much safer with a single 1070 or 1080. Maybe in the future, crossover will dominate. Who knows.

You'll be fine. I'm not up to date on tech like I used to be but if things haven't changed much since then, the R9 390 is an amazing GPU and wouldn't be a problem for you

since AMD is now actually supporting linux, at least that I am told, I would get an rx 480 or something like that. The i7 3770k is still a very capable CPU and you shouldn't bottleneck anything other than something in sli or a gtx 1080.

For Linux definitely get an AMD card ATM. Because they have way better drivers. Not necessarily at raw performance, but definitely at being less problematic.
The hybrid driver models seems to work good so far. The open source part at least is working great on my arch Linux system. Proprietary drivers are a pain especially on rolling release distros.
AMD even had open source drivers ready pre launch day.
Here is a German article about the drivers compared to nvidia. They are not perfect as clearly statet in that article but the best there is:

Interesting to see AMD having much better drivers at least on Linux.

Vielen Dank. Auch Deutscher oder extra rausgesucht? Sehr nett :D

I guess i will buy an AMD. But i will wait and see how good/worse the Vega cards are.
But because i'm 70% of the time on Linux Mint, AMD is definitely better. And less greedy and poisonous.

Thanks for the help all

Nee, auch Deutscher und heute zufällig über den Artikel gestoßen ;)

I'm very excited for the future of the AMD Linux drivers. With every kernel update they get better. Once they support freesync (and they will) I'm going to get a new monitor and a proper graphics card. I hope Vega won't only be the absolute high end but also have some affordable cards at around 250€.?

Well. All the answers are no..it would not bottleneck.
But now i saw this video:

I have a i7-3770K. About the same performance as a i5-4690K.
But also older. :/
And my Monitor is at 97 HZ max OC @1080p and 4k@60(max62)HZ

Is this Video bullshit? Should i worry about it? Or am i still fine to use all the new GPUs with optimal utilisation like all of you told me?

Do you need 144Hz all the time? If 100fps is still ok.. don't bother.
Instead of dual GPU maybe try to find a deal on a Fury. Async compute will be monstrous on those.
I have a Sapphire R9 Fury Nitro and it is stupid fast. And Vega seems still sooo far away.... #cosmicpun

Ich glaub mein Schwein pfeift! Look at that:

http://www.caseking.de/sapphire-radeon-r9-fury-nitro-tri-x-oc-4096-mb-hbm-gcsp-133.html

No freeSync, G-sync or somethingsync on my Monitor. But AMH-409U was cheap for a 40'' 4k Display.
And if no problem, i try to wait for vega.
But its hard.
Playing on 1080p medium settings @ca 40 FPS on a 4k Monitor.
It's hard to ignore... I need it... but i can wait...oh shit why am i on a shop site again?

PS: Are all here Germans? I thought this is an American community.

Same site. different game

Here is a thought: Your ancient GTX670 bottlenecks your CPU in every game, all the time, today.

Get a card that fits NOW and stop worrying about what could happen next.
Seriously, the Sapphire Fury I linked for 350,- is one hell of a deal.
