Would grounding heatspreaders help RAM OC?

Hi,

I don’t know if I’m getting cabin fever but I’m wondering if it would actually help memory overclocking if you put metal heat spreaders on the DIMMs and in contrast to the sh** that’s out there in fact connect them to the ground plane?

(Also protect air-gapped systems from sneaky academics).

?

Heat spreaders are largely cosmetic. Even overclocking dram doesn’t get that hot.

As far as blocking energy that might be radiated from the modules, metal shielding is effective regardless of grounding. The Faraday cage effect doesn’t depend on ground.
