Would a new cpu benefit my new build?

Finally finished building my new system. Everything is new except the cpu which came out of my old computer and is an athlon II x4 640 at stock clock. my current specs are;

mb: sabertooth 990fx r2.0

memory: corsair vengeance 2x 4gb 1600mhz

gfx: gigabyte hd 7870 

would a new cpu like the fx4100 or fx6300 benfit my system a great deal ? if so which cpu would be the best for my system ?

The difference would be quite noticeable, here is a bench of them two: http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/188?vs=699 It would be a all around improvement in performance, both in gaming and just doing basic tasks, the FX6300.

Witht hat being said , is your current system giving you issues gaming? Why are you considering a new cpu?

and my system seems to be struggling with some games for example bf3 runs on ultra fine however in large areas it slows down to 20 fps. this is the same for a couple of games i wasnt sure if the drivers for gfx card were the problem, bottlenecking or my cpu is weak. from that bench mark i can see my cpu is weak

Definitely worth a shot Michaelgeo7, it will boost your FPS a good bit in BF3(especially in multiplayer mode).
