Would a 6100 bottleneck a 760?

Would an FX 6100 bottleneck a GTX 760? I am trying to decide what my next major upgrade will be, if a 6100 will bottleneck a 760 I will be upgrading my CPU next. I currently have an FX 6100, GTX 750 Ti, and 6 GB of RAM (my next minor upgrade).

As far as i know a FX6100 will not bottleneck a GTX760.

But its depending on which games you play basicly, in games like BF4 and such there will be no bottleneck. the zambezi cpu´s are not that bad for gaming, only the single threaded performance of zambezi is alot worse then Vishera. On most todays games will do fine.

I would definitely go for a GPU upgrade, because a GTX760 will give you more performance boost in gaming, then going from a FX6100 to a FX6300 for example.

I just upgraded from that same setup, a 760 and a 6100. It didn't bottleneck necessarily, except for Unreal Engine and other poorly optimized games.

Yes but those poorly optimized games for multiple core ussage, like ARMA dayz, lol wow, are also perform not that great on Vishera. these are particular intel favour games. cause intel have better single threaded performance.

But most todays games, there won´t be a bottleneck at all.

I would not be upgrading to a 6300, that's not enough a performance boost for the money, I would go for an 8350. Thank you for the advice.

you can allways upgrade to a FX8350 later on, if you like. i would first go with the GPU upgrade. for the FX8350 you also gonne need a decent mobo..

Decent in what way? What is the cheapest MOBO you recommend for it? It would have to be Micro ATX. I have a Gigabyte 78LMT-USB3 right now.

cheapest motherboard i would recommend, its depending on where you life, but if it is in the states, then i would say Asus M5A99FX pro R2.0. or the Asrock 990Fx Fatal1ty killer.

that gigabyte board is not decent enough for a powerhungry 8core. 4+1 powerphase and no heatsinks to cool the vrms, non m-atx am3+ board is good enough for a FX 8 core.

Neither of those are Micro ATX...

You cannot run a 8350 on an Matx board. No Matx AM3+ board is capable of safely running a 8350/8320.

I know thats the big problem with AMD, there is no decent enough M-atx board that can handle a powerhungry FX8 core that well. you can go M-atx, but then you stuck with FX6300. and FX6100 to FX6300 is basicly not worth it, for gaming.

If you wanne stay with your M-atx build, then unfortunatly, i have to recommend to upgrade to intel later on.

But i would grab a better GPU first like i said.

No, when a CPU bottlenecks a GPU, It is usually a case like an I3 using a GTX 680  or an Athlon X2 with a R9 280x  a workstation card might begin to be bottlenecked, but I doubt any real gaming card would do it as of current.

No Actually I managed a FX-8320 on that board, I didn't research it throughly and coupled it with that board, I had no issues so far but yeah I will definitely get a better mobo for it.

And as with all AMD CPUs with a decent cooler you have significant over clocking room. I have a 6100 and it is current my at 3.8 with a better motherboard I could push it more but I am happy at 3.8.
