Guys I'm trying to get opinions on wether this is update to my rig is worth it.
Curent:
AMD x6 1055t 2.8Ghz
8GB ram 1333mhz
M4A88T/USB3.0
Sapphire Radeon HD 6950
7200 rpm Black Caviar 1TB
I'm looking to upgrade my MOBO and CPU to:
Asus M5A99X
AMD FX-8350 4.ghz
Is this a worthwhile upgrade in your eyes? I'm going to be gaming quite a bit (Arma 3, BF3/4) and possibly rendering.
If your going to be gaming, don't bother with the CPU upgrade, instead upgrade your GPU. Upgrading your mobo is a good idea though, if you add a CPU cooler, you will be able to overclock your x6.
I personally would keep it the way it is. That 6 core phenom is nice! And you have a mini-ITX motherboard so you could do a compact build with something like a prodigy case. What cooler do you have for your CPU? I'd look into a watercooler and do some nice overclocks. I would keep it. Save your money and wait 3 or 4 years when something really bigger and better comes out,
3-4 years sounds a bit much to stick with this hardware no?
