I have the Sony MDR-XD200 headphones, and i don't really have complaint other than a crack here and there. I was wondering is it worth going for the superlux 668B's that i saw in tek syndicates make your own gaming headset for 50$ or less. If i'm to buy headphones i don't want just the fact that them being open is better i would also like to hear if anyone has had experience with both.
they are open and are geared towards studio use as monitors. this basically means that they have a very flat sound, and the sound is as close to the original recording as possible, so they should be fine. however you'll probably want to find some akg 240 pads for them, as the stock ones are really uncomfortable. they are worth the upgrade if you value your audio, if not then no, your not going to get any more headshots from buying these

Thanks man. I will be using these for music as well as gaming that's why i wanted someones opinion on the audio. Saw some other reviews too that agreed
I want to make some things clear. The HD668b is great for the price. It has a very clear sound to it with loads of detail. IT is great for the price. However, they are certainly not neutral. They would not be suited for studio use as they have a pretty large mid-bass hump, a lack of extension, and peaky treble. If you are going to be buying new pads for them anyway, I would suggest that you take a look at stuff that is in a higher price bracket. Below is a link to headphones which are overall very neutral. They are rebranded HM5/Fa-003 (all three sound more or less the same, and there are plenty of reviews out there, check head-fi). They are not opened, so they don't have as large of a soundstage, but unless you are going to be "professional footstep listening", you won't really need it anyway in game. Personally, I prefer the immersion that accompanies a more accurate and full sound as opposed to a large soundstage with a thin sound. The call is yours ultimately, but those are my two cents.

^^ just got mine from amazon today.. so far really liking them. tons of detail, "holy shit-balls" comfortable, little harsh though but I think a good burn in will help with that. I'm a little disappointed with the bass, it doesn't hit as hard as I was hoping for but I'm getting an amp anyway plus I think I like it better this way anyway. Overall would recommend
Bean, if you want a little bit more bass and toned down highs, I would suggest looking primarily at warm amps, not neutral ones like the O2. Something like the E07k or E10 might be the way to go. Fiio generally has warm sounding amps.
EDIT: Just realized that I suggested the E07k to you in that other thread. So yeah, that is probably the way to go. Here is a review of the E07k which should help you get a grasp of what it sounds like.
"The ANDES is warm/sweet/fun." Sounds like exactly what you are looking for.

OMG, I feel a kinship with you. I have that crackling bastard too, lol.
