So I traded my Fury for 2 390x's for some sweet 4k gaming on my freesync monitor but to my disapointment I'm getting very poor performance
did a fresh install of drivers and fiddled with crossfire profiles.
single GPU I get 40fps or so on witcher 3, and Crossfire I get 30~ fps. (at 4k)
but when I bump it down to 1440p I get smooth 60fps.
anyone know whats going on or how to fix it?

I have a feeling overclocking the fury for 4k would have done a lot more for you.
the Fury didn't overclock and its performance wasn't quite there.

When did you replace it? Its been updated to OC way better.
I went from Fury X to Fury, to 2x 390x. lol
I'm just trying to figure out why the second you hit 4k Crossfire shits the bed.

Crossfire doesn't automatically mean better performance also. Its a scaling technology just like SLI. Someone else will be able to describe why. I've never used it.
well I'm unable to replicate the frame rates that many benchmarkers have dispalyed, and witcher 3 its supposed to work
So the fact that Polaris is about to be unveil at Computex you decide to to get 2x 390x? Tsk, tsk, tsk...
figured out the issue!
turns out it was freesync!
Doesn't make sense. Are you sure it's not your Riviatuner OSD 'cuz that isn't free perfomance wise to monitor.
yea freesync was the issue (didn't even have that installed at the time)
trurning it off it works flawlessly (as crossfire can)
Must be a crossfire driver issue with Freesync, that's too bad.
