I have plans on upgrading my GPU. I currently have an Asus formula z mobo and an amd Fx 8350 CPU. I am worried that the new GPU (GTX 980 EVGA super clocked) will be limited by the bandwith of my motherboard. The GPU is PCIe 3.0 and the motherboard is PCIe 2.0. Will I not be able to use the GPU to it's full capacity? Will I be forced to upgrade my mobo and processor too?
Don't want to sound mean, but did you try googling it?
Summary: You will experience a very small, but negligible loss in performance. I wouldn't worry about it too much.
Thank you very much, that was a good article.
And yes i did google but i always like to check with the people on here, they give very summarys, just like you did. :)
Show me and graphics solution (except a few server grade things) and I will tell you not to worry about it.
I went from an 8350 and 2 gtx 780s sli then moved up to the i7 4790k and the only games that really had a significant difference was arma and other Bohemia interactive games.
