I have recently read Witz, a fantastic novel by Joshua Cohen. Without spoiling too much, the novel is a grave depiction of the near future and the societal and cultural uprisings if Judaism. It is written is a verse-like form and is a deep novel; do not expect to read this lightly. To fully grasp what is going on, it is best to read this book with a clear, undistracted mind and be a fairly intelligent person when it comes to religion (the beliefs of certain practices, etc.) Overall, a very well written novel with a fantastic story. Highly recommended by me, if that means anything.
