Wireless router upgrade (from D-Link DIR-601)

came into some birthday money, not much, but enough to buy a new modem and router. current setup is from 2009. im running a 50Mb/down Comcast cable connection on a Motorola SB5101 Docsis 2.0 modem, and a D-Link DIR-601 router (given free from Comcast)

as far as the modem, i am going to get the SB6141 DOCSIS 3.0, but the router... not 100% yet.

the D-Link 601 just doesn't have good enough range in my room, and i'm in a small apartment. i often get signed out of PSN (ps3 network) and have recently been experiencing an alert on my win7 pc "windows has detected an IP conflict" (or something like that) that pops up a few times a day. and nothing has changed (i got a new chromebook, but the win alerts happened 3 weeks before i got it, and i have tried IP release/renew in the cmd prompt. still happening. not sure if it is the router or what)

im stuck between...

Asus N66u: $125 - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833320091

and the

Asus N56u: $88 - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833320062

it is nearly a $40 price difference and i am just wondering if i need/will see the benefits of the n66u.

at the moment, my needs are:

1PC - Ethernet
1PC - wifi
1chromebook - wifi
1PS3 - wifi
1cellphone - wifi

any suggestions/info would be great. probably going to be buying the new router next tuesday. might hold off on the modem till March 1st though.

For the price, I heard very good things about this one - http://www.tp-link.com/ca/products/details/?model=TL-WR841N

It will be able to handle your requirements. I, myself, am running the RT-N66u.  Great router, but is not cheap.

i really dont want to buy a $20 router. i want something more high end, and something that will last me another 5 years with 2pcs, 1 chromebook, a tv, a ps3, a cell phone and eventually another cell phone and ps4. im not really sure that $20 would be up to it?

i really want the n66u (and will probably get it) im just wondering it the how much better it is than the 56u. does it warrant the $40 more in price?

Yes, the RT-N66U warrants it, but with everything you got going on, you should have, addition to the router, a switch and an access-point.  That is what I have and it is flawless.

thanks =) yeah, im just going to go with the n66u then. i cant wait!
