I’m looking to replace my current wireless router which is a few years old. I need at least 4 gigabit Ethernet ports and I’d like to have a lot of features without paying out the ass.

I have 2 gaming PCs, a FreeNAS server, ESXi server, and a handful of wireless N devices.

Ideally I don’t want to pay more than $100 but willing to pay a little more to have more features.

If anyone has any suggestions, that would be help.

Try to buy a Linksys WRT1900AC v1 and put DDWRT or OpenWRT onto it.

Oh well, you could've gone with a small PFSense build and got the most amazing router even, especially since you're going to tinker a lot with it (WRT is meant for that). Power bill would've been an issue?
