Problem: Father claims he had no issues with disconnecting until I moved in. I have my pc connected over LAN and my phone the find 7a wireless N. Frequently, when he reboots his computer the laptop (Wireless G) will not connect to the modem. Even after resetting the wireless adapter it no longer connects. I have to reset both the modem/router combo and the wireless adapter in order for his pc to connect. He is running an old acer aspire one laptop with windows 7 starter.
I would really appreciate it if someone could help me figure out what is going on. I have no idea. I do have access to the router settings.
He powers on his computer. And the adapter is on and ready to connect to a wifi signal, but you try to connect to our wifi and it says that it is not able to connect to the router at all.
Try switching your router to a different channel maybe your airspace is over saturated. You can use free spectrum analyzers for your phone from the Play store to find a quiet channel. If that dosnt help see if your router supports G only mode and try that his old card might be having trouble with MIMO signals
Its TWC so it is likely a router and they only give you 1 Ip so its NAT for all the other devices. But its a good point he might have a 1 off setup from a legacy carrier that got gobbled up by TWC
So I fixed it guys. I believe wireless g/n was interfering with each other. So I installed an access point off of the arris in wireless g mode only and left the arris in wireless n mode, and gave the access point a static IP as well. This seemed to fix everything. TY for the help everyone.
