I need a good wireless gaming mouse and keyboard. I know that is pretty much an oxymoron, but hear me out.
My HTPC doubles as my gaming PC. Its nothing too fancy (8 GB's of RAM an A8 GPU) ... i dont plan on upgrading it until steam OS and the controller make their debut.
Since this is my HTPC ... its hooked up to my wall mounted plasma and i'm on the couch. I plan on getting some type of tray (either a stand w/wheels or a lap based one) to put the m & KB on. I live in a nuthouse with two young kids so cords going everywhere or something that isnt portable is a no go. I currently use an old xbox360 controller with a wireless receiver on the games that support it in steam.
I want to be able to play games that dont support the controller from the comfort of my couch about 15ft or so away from the PC.
What i'm really looking for is just a combo that works well at that distance. I know that there are lag concerns with wireless peripherals but as long as its not TOO noticeable i'll be fine. I"ll be playing multiplayer games but if its only a few MS i probably wont notice. I also dont want to break the bank. If the Steam Controller is going to be as good as it seems so far i'll be getting one for sure, but I need something reasonable to bridge the gap.
Any recommendations you can give would be great.
TL;DR - I need a wireless mouse and keyboard to play games with. I'm on a couch about 15-20ft away. Dont want to break the bank.
Logitech, I know it sounds bland and generic, has tons of wireless devices to which I have a lot of experience with. The newer models around 20-60 USD depending on what you get are great for those distances. They offer separate KB and M but you can get a nice combo as well. Here's a link to their models: http://www.logitech.com/en-us/product/wireless-combo-mk320?crid=27 That is an OK one but you could pick a better one that suites you from here: http://www.logitech.com/en-us/keyboards/keyboard-mice-combos or if your price range fits it you can check in their gaming section and I have seen some wireless in there but not many. It'd be better to know the price range. I hope this helped a bit!
Anything will do.
If you are not sitting behind a desk of appropriate height, you can't use keyboard and mouse properly because you are not in an ergonomic position to do so. You will be so inaccurate using them this way that getting anything decent is not worth it.
My main concern is lost input really. I know that rocking a keyboard and mouse from the couch like a fatass isnt ideal but I'm working with what I have. I have a one handed lenovo-n5902 which is fine for quick HTPC use but it has its problems with mouse and keyboard input not showing up ... i would hate to spend a wee bit of money on a wireless keyboard and have the exact same issues.
I've read the reviews of several logitech keyboards and it appears that input lag isnt there and key presses show up. Was just hoping for some real world use from folks from this board i guess.
I've used Logitech for a few years with no issues, they reliable, they last, and they have updates often so they are usable with just about any software you would ever need. I've got one of their gaming headsets too, it isn't the best or most comfortable, but I spent 60$ on it and its way better that any other I have found in that range. The KB/M combo I got uses one receiver and was 30$ and I've dropped it, stepped on it, and left it on for days, and still no issues.
