So I stumbled accross a service called Wire, which seems to be like skype, but everything is encrypted and they are based in Switzerland. https://wire.com/
They are claiming that they aren't selling any data to any third parties or seeing it themselves. And it's completely free and also open source(at least the cryptography method)...so how do they actually make money?
Ok.. well.. I dont know. I dug through their website and yeah...
Well, they are a startup, maybe they are not (yet) concerned about making money? I dont know how much of an infrastructure they actually need to maintain...
But yeah, no clue. As there isn't a corporate version or similar...
It makes me think of protonmail (maybe because the data is also stored in Switzerland); I used it when it was in beta, and now apparently the service is free but they are some non-free options. So the wire team may be working for professional services, and now are just trying to get a lot of users.
