WIP workstation

alright, long story made shorter: tired of trying do do everything from a laptop, so deciding to finially step it up and get the big guns out.

GTX 680 (4gb DDR5 flavor) & need.  If you can link me to a good deal for anything, much appreciated.

i7 3770k (need)

Muskin SSD mSATA 240GB (and a couple of HDD for storage/backup)

850w PSU (subject to change)

16GB RAM (1600 flavor) (on the way)

GA z77-UD5H Motherboard (already have)

Pretty standard from a lot of what i have seen with a few tweaks here & there.  I'm a graphic designer, and do a lot of rendering, so speed is key, but would also love to be able and play anything thrown at it, and from what i've seen, a single 680 is fine for now. Currently i have a Thermotake lvl 10 case to toss it all in hopefully with plenty of room to spair, because i am thinking of getting a water cooling kit for it at some point, want to see how it does stock first. So, any help would be great, along with tips/tricks, stuff to look out for, etc. Trying to stick to a budget of ~ 2k or so, under would be great, over not so much, but doable.

Hey, might i ask what you are going to use this computer for, and what site are u going to buy it from?

And would u be a bit more spesific on what u have and not, do u have the motherboard and the Case only.

this seems more like a really good gaming pc than a workstation.

Xeons are better suited for workstation tasks. They're also good at gaming. 16GB ECC-reg memory.

I plan to use it to run things like maya, zbrush & the adobe suite, but also gamming which may end up being what i will use it the most for.

So far everything is comming from newegg, but also using the site pcpartspicker to try and find different parts cheaper.

And yes, at the moment all i have is the motherboard and the case, but also have RAM being shipped out already.

Xeons are, but what he picked out won't break the bank, and will work pretty damn well with those apps, I can attest to that since I run the same apps, but on a Core 2 Quad.

I was looking at the xeons at one point, but also compaired to the ivy bridge, you lose the built in graphics, and they are quite a deal more expensive then i would like for the 3770k equivalent. Also pci-e 3 compatability is a nice thing to have just in case (at least i would think so)

And just realized missing an optical drive, lol. Any suggestions, debaiting on blu ray, but not sure,

Well, u kinda have to figure out if u want to change ur motherboard or not+ how much does that RAM, Powersupply and Case take away from your budget?

Motherboard, ram & case were ~600, so i have roughly 1400 to toy around with. Kinda sad that the GPU is going to take up almost half of that, lol but it's definately something that won't change any time soon. (unless i decide later to get a second and run it in SLI or something).

BTW- Looking for a quality cpu fan/heatsink/water cooling kit. Not sure where to start, but i hear a lot of different people complaining about the quality of the stock intel cpu cooling systems.

So, if anyone wouldn't mind pointing me to some quality piecies, it would be much appreciated. & if it helps, my cpu has about a 6~7 inch head room, so there should be plenty of room for just about anything.

Okey, heres my first try, could give it another go to find a bit better prices but newegg is so diffrent to the norwegian site :3
