The only way I can see Windows Tiles working is with touch screens. Or VR headsets.
dunno depends on how people use it, personally find them to be faster than not using them most all of the time, as they can be arranged any way you want easier, and if you just put the ones you use the most at the front.
where you could change the start menu to have more intelligent design instead of just being random ass folders because say we're talking games, it could be the name of the game, the name of the developer, the name of the publisher there could be nested folders, different games of the same series could use an entirely different convention than the other titles, you could make it better organized by manually putting shortcuts into folders for 'games' or do by genre or whatever, but your still talking folders you have to open so an entire other click right of the bat and then if you uninstall one of those games the shortcut you made will still be there so you'll have to manually remove them where the tiles will be automatically removed if the program is removed (atleast most of the time)
but then i remember people being pissed about vista/7 changing to scrolling start menu instead of having it all on the screen at once like in windows 2000
Personally I find that having the alt tab function is better for desktop. But I also feel that the tiles are kinda meh for desktop and vr headsets. Since they are mostly applications that seems tablet based. And that they do not have much of a grip of what actual pc users want.
< mean the tiles in the start menu that act as a shortcut :p
you can add them for any program like control panel, task manager whatever you want, just the right click pin to start, can rearrange any way you want, even in labeled groups but the groups are already open instead of being a closed folder
The problem with that is that it closes the window that you are currently using. And unless you have like a 50 inch screen at 4K that would not be an issue. I know I am over exaggerating with the screen size.
what for the windows 'apps'?
I haven't really taken much interest in the windows apps. But I haven't really taken a look at them to see what they might benefit. But am sure there might be really useful apps as compared to programs from 2008. Sorry if this is a useless post.
Live tiles are pretty handy specially for the Weather and Calendar.
For the other tiles, I resize them, and group depending on which programs I use often. Its just start menu shortcuts anyway so you can add any shortcut you want. Batch files, power config, and other nifty admin tools too.
