Windows server 2008 ZeroShell router error

Hello there!

This is my first real post on the Tek Syndicate forums, but i'm a long time viewer. I was very active on the LTT forums but yeah..... Look at what it has become.

For school i'm setting up a virtual network and i use ZeroShell in a VM as router. I am also using Windows Server 2008 in a VM as server, DNS and DHCP.
ZeroShell is configured correctly and i can login trough a client by typing in the IP and i can also ping it etc.

When i want to ad ZeroShell as Conditional Forwarder and i type in the (correct) IP, i get the following error: "The server with this IP address is not authoritative for the required zone".

What could cause this error and how could i fix it?

Thanks in advance!

I'm not at all familiar with the software you're using, but should the domain not be srvcva1.something?

The virtual network is called cva.local but when i use that it still could not resolve the IP adress and i got an error the zone already exists. I also tried srvcva1.local (the server is called srvcva1) because i read in a guide that it should be the server name but that also didn't work.

If it's the server name then you probably want to use srvcva1.cva.local as that's the fully a qualified domain name. You will also need to make sure that that server is set as one of your dns servers or it won't be able to resolve. Otherwise you could try the ip address.

Although to me it looks like that's supposed to be the domain you want to forward and then your putting in the address of the dns serve to forward it to. So if it's saying that the domain already exists then you might have that domain configured on the machine already or its already set as the dns server. Something like that. Again I'm not really sure.
