Windows on suscription?

ArsTechnica article

So according to rumours & lots of speculation Microsoft plans to go free for "Metro" environment & wants an annual subscription fee for desktop-use and power-features.

I'm puzzled as to how Microsoft plans to convince Consumers to pay a subscription fee for the OS.

Most of the computer illiterate crowed can't distinguish between OS & Hardware. Additionally hardware subsidized Windows created the impression that Windows is already free.

People are going to conclude that new Computers are gimped & that Microsoft wants to blackmail them. I foresee Windows 7 becoming just like XP.

Adobe CC might work because enough professionals actually want the subscription model, but for Consumers ? I don't think so.

I guess i was wrong Linux isn't going to kill Windows, Microsoft will do it itself O_o ?

Yeah as soon as Linux gets the support from big app developers I know I and many others will 100% switch.
