Windows on Macbook Pro

Here is the story.

My girlfriend and I are both in school, she was in need of a computer so she when head and bought a mac, even after I attempted to stop her.  She received it a few days ago and tried it out.  Truth be told she hates OS X.  She wants me to sell it.  I told her that Mac's can also run Windows on them and to give it a try after I format it for her. I started with formatting a partition for the hard drive and then went out and purchased a Windows 8.1 Key.  Grabbed my self a USB formatted it and installed the Windows.iso to it.  I was planning on using the USB as a boot drive and then installing Windows directly onto this Mac.  .. But NO .. Apple does not let anyone use USB boot drives.  So I found out that I will need to install Windows directly through Apples "Superdrive".  Thankfully her computer came with one.

I went out and bought a couple DVD-WR, these failed to format correctly.  So I got some trusty DVD-R, which still seem to be giving me trouble.  The Windows.iso file is 3.3GB, and the DVD-R supports upto 4.7GB.  Even with this, I am still getting error messages regarding the iso file being to big to burn onto the disks.

Blahh anyways is there anything I can do, or should I go an buy a Windows 8 install CD and do it the old fashion way?

What did you use to burn the dvd?

Have you tried doing it through Bootcamp? If you still want firmware updates you need to keep the OS X partition. You can remove it completely but you'll need to install a custom bootloader like rEFIt.
