Windows issues

How can Windows be able to read folders that end with a period? Some of the names of the bands on my music server end with a period and Windows can't open their belonging folders.

What type of file system were these folders created on? This little program works well for ext hfs and reiser.

The server's file system is FAT32.

it typically cant and thats a very odd naming convention.. what is this server your running.. If you can make the period come out front.... which also makes it a hidden folder unfortunatley

I know this seems silly but renaming them using a Live CD may be the easiest option.

I don't think trying it from a live cd is silly at all. That would be my next approach. What I would like to know is how in the world did you manage to create a folder name on a fat32 file system that has a period at the end of it? You can deliberately create a folder with a period in it from a command prompt, but even when you do so the folders are still available and you can still traverse them. I created a few folders ending in periods in linux and was able to access them perfectly fine in windows. It just ommits the period at the end.

What is the actual error message you are getting? Is it a permissions error?

The server was made on a Mac. The server itself was a Drobo for 8 years but now it's an Airport Time Capsule.

It's not an odd naming convention. Per se, band R.E.M. exists on the server. I don't know what it's running, it's an Apple AirPort Time Capsule the Macs in my house can read the folders under discussion but the PC can't!
