Hi everybody. I'm looking around at different ways to encrypt a flash drive that I plan to store some sensitive files on. This would be for a Windows system. I want to use something other than Bit Locker that is robust enough to keep others from taking a peek. Any ideas would be much appreciated.
Hey, take a look at https://veracrypt.codeplex.com/, I find it useful for storing ssh keys and keepass2 db files. It's a truecrypt fork without truecrypt's pitfalls and with enhanced security.
edit: just saw the big yellow notice that codeplex are shutting down their projects, not really sure where veracrypt is headed as of now
Carrying on from what's been said, you can create a portable version of VeraCrypt on your flashdrive. Just keep in mind that you'll need admin rights on the machine you're using the drive on to be able to launch the application.
It allows you to create an encrypted file, at a volume size of your choice, which it mounts as a virtual drive - separate from the USB volume.
