usually windows home group does the trick for windows file sharing. if that does not work then adding a network drive to both computers and adding the files to the share drive works in most cases. ( windows 7 ultimate on 2 machines 8.1 pro on third your mileage may vary.) last option is a direct link between devices with no routers or switches involved and using SMB or other P2P connection (slower but a little more robust)
