I've isolated this to either a windows or driver issue. Currently running everything at stock settings the computer will boot into windows just fine, but then when I log in the entire screen goes black. Tried different video outs, as well as switching after the screen goes out. When I switch I dont get a signal from the other video out, and the original port just shows a black screen. Windows works fine in safe mode, and both my manjaro and arch hdd's boot with no problem. I've never had any problems before, so I'm wondering if it isn't maybe some kind of malware, however, the gpu/driver are new, so that may be it as well. Any idea what the issue might be?
running
Sapphire 290 tri-x
windows 7 x64
catalyst 14.9.2 (I'm 98% sure of this, I cant figure out how to check in safe mode though)
Probably just a corrupted windows video driver. Start up in safe mode, uninstall Catalyst, then reboot, it will use the VESA driver, and you can then reinstall Catalyst, and everything will probably be hunky dory again... keep us informed!
Ok, uninstalled drivers then re installed catalyst beta 14.11.2, same problem. It worked fine with the basic driver and in safe mode, and still works fine with my linux. I think i can hear the fans on the video card ramp up before the screen goes black, but only just a bit, not like 20% to 100%. Maybe up to around 40% or 50%. Any ideas? I've tried with my overclock and on stock settings, I'll be trying the stable driver tomorrow, I've never had issues with the betas though.
Sorry to post in this after a couple of days, just want to tie up the loose ends. Tried it with the stable driver now I'm fine, thanks for the help guys!
