Windows 8 - Is it safe to upgrade?

No problem! At first I was sketchy to buy from him but I tried and got my key fast like I said. He may take a bit to respond (Usually a day) but that's because I think he lives in Europe. What I did was buy a windows 7 key then use it in Windows 10 and it worked with the new update. :)

Ya, but like if you're going to buy one of those keys, just save yourself the money and get windows for free some other way

8.1 is a free upgrade from 8, and 8.1 is pretty damn solid once you get classic shell on there and set it to default back to the desktop.

Just clearing something up:

http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/lifecycle

XP support ended April of last year

Windows Vista is supported until April 2017

Windows 7 is supported until Jan 2020

Win 8/8.1 is supported until Jan 2023

Build 10240 of Win10 is supported until Oct 2025

What "support is ending" is that MS will no longer give licenses to activate non-Windows 10 machines to mainstream OEMs sometime next year.

None of those expiration dates apply to extended support contracts (that cost lots of money) meaning that today (late 2015) some systems are running Windows XP and MS is publishing updates for them that are not publicly available.

Win Vista-10 are all supported by MS for quite a while longer.
