Windows 8 and ocing

right so heres my log of happening

first i had switch to w8 due to development reasons i bought a new ssd(kingston hyperx 3k 120gb)

everything was fine connected it up all detect fine started reinstalling did a clean install whiped out everything

***note while i was reinstalling and before reinstalling my cpu was oc'd to 3.4ghz****

did a fresh install everything was fine first day did all updated all good

next day everything still fine

did all w8 updates last night went to sleep computer went to sleep

try to wake it up pc wakes up but monitor stays black

force reboot pc

loadings up and says overclocking failure

pop into bios disable oc and set everything to their defaults everything works fine

tried minimising manual settings on oc profile but nothing worked even if i kept my cpu at stock speeds except the toggle is set to manual instead of auto for oc

i thought my bios never was updated so i updated it to the latest still dosent work...

my rig:

cpu:Q6600 core 2 quad 2.4ghz

ram: 4gb ddr2

mobo: p5q-e asus

gpu: 4870 512mb

everything worked fine had a stable oc to 3.4 on w7 but it seems some updates perhaps made ocing not possible anymore..

anyone knows how to fix it or if they have same problem

Do some more troubleshooting take out the ssd with win8 on it set it aside for safe keeping grab another hard drive and see if you can install 7 or anything else not 8 b/c that seems to have caused the problem.

See if you can get your board to think you installed a different cpu aka take cpu out power on put cpu back in. If you have another mobo try it.

On another note I didn't know that ddr2 boards could install win8 because it requires a uefi bios? perhaps something to take into consideration. Or do you have one of those dual bios things where you get the benifits of uefi with old interface?
