Every time i boot my computer it starts in self repair mode and then fails while diagnosing the problem (It does the same thing in safe mode). I tried to do a system restore on my computer but it tells me that i need to sign in as an admin but there arent any. I am the only account on the pc. Is there any way around this?
Update: For the hell of it I tried a different harddrive running Manjaro Linux.
It came up with an error saying:
AMD-Vi: IOAPIC[0] not in IVRS table
AMD-Vi: No southbridge IOAPIC found in IVRS table
I then flashed my bios to the most recent version to no avail.
OK with the caveat that I have never tried this on windows 8 ...
if you can use Acronus, Ghost or, Clonezilla to back up the drive if you can so if it all goes pear shaped you can atleast go back to where you started.
try using a bootable OS to edit the windows SAM file normally you would do this to reset a password but some utilities like PCLoginNow ( never used this tool but similar ones) detailed in the how to linked below allows you to elevate user accounts to local admins. elevate your account reboot and try the repair operation where you are currently hitting the wall.
Alright i got my computer up and running. I put in my install disk and it bypasses the admin crap. So fortunately windows was able to repair it self. Sorry for wasting your guy's time! And thanks for the help!
