Windows 7 with SSD and 1TB Drive

I'm beginning to think that the cause of a lot of issues on my 1TB is due to windows 7 managing 2 different drives. Ive had 2 1TB drives not act right after about 8 or so months of use. Since i have most of my programs with the exception of CS5 suite and 2 games(which are on an 80gb Intel ssd) installed on my 1TB drive i think something funky happens. I tend to get overall general slowness of the drive, slow boot(or not boot up up or freezing of that drive, i particularly notice this when steam updates and freezes and then i cant access anything on the drive until i reboot. Now it wont complete a check disk without it locking up. this is the 2nd drive to do this in 1 year. I:m probably not clearly communicated what the problem is since its very confusing and hard to explain but any ideas?//////////

Seems like bad drives, what kind is it?

and why dont you have the OS on the SSD?

i do have os on the ssd but i have most of the programs on the 1tb drive western digital black. the other drive that went hinky was the green version of the 1tb. i have the green one installed in an older pc and it works fine but when on my i7 system it acts all weird.

No idea what it could be. The only thing I can suggest is a BIOS update, it can often sort out random weird problems.

You might of not set it up correctly When you did the windows install.

You don't have a first generation Sandy Bridge board, do you?

WEll it worked fine for several months...and no its the evga x58 3sli

Ok, I just wanted to make sure you weren't getting any data loss because of a flawed chipset. That's weird though. I don't know what it could be. Maybe it's just coincidence and you've just been unlucky with your hard drives because Western Digital has always worked great for me.
