I currently have a copy of windows 7 professional running on my macbook via virtualbox. I am building a new gaming PC and I wanted to know if i could transfer that copy of windows on to my PC without too much trouble. The copy of windows is a licensed copy and i have the CD key as well as the .ISO file. Shouldn't i be able to just boot it from a USB, given that it is properly formatted?
yes, you can mount the iso to a usb (i usually use yumi to do this, but then again mac's disc utility is pretty good), it will boot up and install just fine, though your activation key probably wont work (feel free to try it of course) windows 7 will let you use it for 30 days before switching to unlicenced mode (switches off some features like wallpaper and aero) it will still be useable, but you should really purchase a new key if it comes to that
