Windows 7 screen resolution

Hey guys, I have windows 7 for the moment until I upgrade to 8 and its very hard to get around because the edges of my screen are cut off, I have gone to apperance and personalization in control panel and changed the screen resolution to the 2 options there but that just cut off even more of the edge. Any help is apreciated!

gpu isnt even plugged in, and I'm using my tv as a monitor.

Maybe your monitor isn't adjusted properly? That or there could be some scaling issues with the GPU.

If on AMD, go into your Catalyst control center, and go to your digital flat panel options. There should be an overscan option in scaling. Change that slider and it should fix your problem.

If not on AMD, I can't help you.

not on amd, damn.

Friend had the same problem, apparently it was because he was using a telivision for a monitor. You might have to explore your gpu settings.

What GPU are you running?

ummmmmmm...i am using a television for a monitor.

The issue you're having is related to overscan settings on your television.  Look around for settings related to overscan or scaling.  My LG TV, for example, needs to be set to "Just scan" for the scaling setting for my desktop to look right on it.

ok thanks ill try it! but i think all i have is the ratio which atm is at 16:9, do i need to be connected through vga for those overscan settings to come up or is hdmi fine?
