Maybe a noob question but someone i know screwed up there computer and corrupted windows. She has the product key of her windows 7 install but doesn't have any kind of recovery or back-up disk. Is it possible to re install windows 7 using my disk but but use her product key on the machine to activate it?
Yes it is. You can use your windows cd and her product key.
Yeah, it's definitely possible. I helped out a friend of mine once because he downloaded a Windows 7 ISO file that wasn't mounting to his disk properly. We had the same versions of Windows 7, so I let him use my disk with his product key, and it worked flawlessly.
Ok so if thats possible im wondering since she now has told that she found this disc, would it be a better idea to try and use my disk to install it so she would have a very clean copy of windows without any crapware on system?
As long as you can find all the drivers you need for the computer then that probably would be a better option. However, you could always just uninstall all the bloatware after you install windows anyway.
Use PCDecrapifier to get all the bloatware off. http://pcdecrapifier.com/
Then finish it off with CCleaner. http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner
yes, it is totally possible.
if you loose your installation disk, you can legally torrent the same version of windows oyu had installed, burn it to a disk and reinstall, just use your cd key.
