Windows 7 or linux for my build

first the build (http://pcpartpicker.com/uk/p/sjNL) this ild inclueds win 7 butits £70 (i could get a h60 water cooler and overcloack) but for a first time builder should i get linux and if so how much is it

any help is appreciated

Linux is free! Linux Mint, Ubuntu, Debian, Fedora are all free!!

If you play games go for windows7. Linux gaming still isn't a good solid option in 2012 :(

I have the H60 but iam not a fan of it. The pump is noisy and the performance is not as good. Go for a better watercooling or a good aircooler.

And why do you want a ocz ssd? Please go for a Samsung 830 or Crucial M4 both cheap fast and reliable!

I would say for sure windows... for now

However steam is making a huge push to linux so I would say in a couple of years linux is the place to be

If you ask me... the pirate life is great...

oh and one more thing.. A 500W PSU might just make it, but if you're also gonna overclock go with something higher, please

If you buy windows for 70 pounds and you use it for 5 years its 14 pound a year. And you don't have any issues with updates etc. So why should you pirate your os ;-)

Because then he can get his cooling and the OS

Pirating windows is just cheap. You spend several hundred on a new system only to put dodgy software on it. Why not tell him to run into the store and steal all the kit, that would save him loads of money. FFS grow up and pay for your software that has to be paid for. Donate money to the open source groups that make the software you use...
Note to the forum admins, anyone mentioning pirating software should get the ban hammer swung in their general direction! It brings the Tec Syndicate community into disrepute.

Even Logan mentions piracy so why dont you just sit down and chill. It's not like Bill Gates will be needing those money anyways. And also it's not cheap if you're on a budget and really want a CPU cooler or whatever but cant just because you have to spend money on that freaking OS

7 loader & windows is the way to go dude :) especially if your a gamer!

His config is 900pound so he is not on a budget ;) And you can allways start with the stock cooler and safe some money and buy a h100 over 3 months. And you buy windows not for 1 year but for 5 or 6 years :)

If you want to really learn about PC's and doing customizing really everything. Get linux, its free so its not like its a commitment. If you want an easy solution, and to play games windows 7 is the way to go. Or you can get a legal ISO without a product key, and purchase the windows 8 upgrade for 40 dollars (15 if you are willing to lie a little).

ok i should get the current sustem with the win7 os and if your willing may you check out my other post about intels new haswell http://teksyndicate.com/forum/build-pc/what-do-you-think-intels-new-haswell/127860 since its coming out in june/july and ill have to wait till march 2013 to get the £910 needed
