Windows 7 install

This might be a realy stupid question, but I can't seem to find an answer anywhere...

When I purchase Windows 7, is it going to be a download or a dvd-rom? I am trying to determine whether or not to purchase an internal or external dvd-rw drive.

On a side note, is it worth considering Windows 8? I know that eventually it will no longer be supported, and that there are some quick fixes to set it up to run like windows 7 (ie start button, disabling metro).

Should be DVD, however, what you're ultimately paying for is that code on the box. You can obtain Windows 7 however you like, the DVD is for convenience, as long as you have a valid license key.

If it's cheaper, and you don't mind jumping through a few hoops to get a comfortable feel, then I don't see why not. Windows 8 does even have a few optimizations over Windows 7. I certainly wouldn't pay a premium for Windows 8, and if I saw 8 and 7 for the same price, I'd pick 7 without hesitation.
