I almost sure it's a driver issue. I don't know what to do though. I'm not that savvy with these things.

Go here:

http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/SABERTOOTH_990FX/#support_Download

download the latest drivers for everything

Here for your gpu driver;

Was this windows fresh with the system or an old install & hdd from a previous build?

Worst case, re-install windows and install all the new drivers from scratch.

Big thank you, deejeta. I'm going to try them out right away. The windows are new bought same day as the components.

So I did another memtest for the hell of it and this time I got errors. 3 of them. Did it again and got another error. 2 passes overall. Does this mean the RAM is buggered. Should I return it to the shop while it's under warantee or would that be too hasty? Is memtest in this case to be trusted?

return it. memtest is reliable, ram should not have any errors at all

Just got confirmation from the shop that the ram was indeed faulty. Thank you all.

Next time you use memtest let it run for at least 30mins it has to do hundred's of passes before it's done a full 'pass' of the ram those passes it posts are differnt kinds of tests it gives to the ram to test differnt situations of use.
